Our Staff


Susan Almonte, OCT, BA, BEd:  Vice-Principal.  Susan holds a Bachelor of Arts with a specialized honours in French Studies and a Bachelor of Education from York University.  Susan is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers.  She had two years of teaching experience before coming to the school in 1996.

Peggy (Costa) Arnold, BA:  Peggy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto in History and English.  She came to the school in 2005 with three years of teaching experience.

Michael Austen, OCT, BSc, BEd:  Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Physics from St Lawrence University and gained his Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University.  A member of the Ontario College of Teachers, Michael came to our school in 2015 with several years of teaching experience.

Madeline Dawson, OCT, BA, BEd:  Madeline holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Christianity & Culture from the University of Toronto and gained her Bachelor of Education degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.  A member of the Ontario College of Teachers, Madeline started at the school in 2019.

Patricia (Armstrong) Egan, LLB, BCL:   Patricia received her law degrees from McGill University after completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and French Literature at Trent University.  She joined our staff in 2011 after being a volunteer at the school for a number of years.

Cathy Gudino, BSc:  Cathy received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto in both Chemistry and Physics. She started teaching at the school in 2010.

Stephanie Knott, BA, MLS:  Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christianity & Culture and in History, as well as a Master of Library Science, from the University of Toronto.  She came to the school in 2007 as our secretary and receptionist.

Gordon Nixon, BA, MA:  Principal.  Gordon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ancient Civilizations of the Mediterranean and Near East and a Master of Arts in ancient Greek Language and Literature from the University of Toronto.  As a doctoral candidate in ancient Greek History, he taught at the University of Toronto and Mount Allison University, before coming to the school in 1999.

Rebecca (Hubert) Pontisso, OCT, BA, BEd:  Director.  Rebecca, a co-founder of the school, has been teaching at the school since it began, coming to the school after experience in the Catholic school system.  A graduate of the University of Toronto's Christianity & Culture and English programs, Rebecca holds a teaching degree from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Education.  She is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers.

Robert Pontisso, BA:  Robert holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Philosophy from the University of Toronto.  After a number of years working as a lexicographer and after being a volunteer at the school, he began teaching in 2011.

Elizabeth Resendes, BA:  Elizabeth is a graduate of York University, holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and an Honours Diploma in Design Illustration from Seneca College.  After gaining experience with children and an Assistant Certificate from the Foundation for Montessori Education, Elizabeth started at the school in 2018.
